Chase Bank - Chase is holding me hostage
So, without going into details, I was added onto my ex-wife's account to be a secondary card holder. A few years later, we got divorced and in the paperwork she agreed to take liability of the dept and take me off the account. I come to find out almost 4 years later that I am still on the account. I call Chase and am told, in short, that they cannot take me off the account, and that it's between me and my ex who is responsible for payment. When I asked if there is any way to take me off the account, the rep told me no and that per my discussion with my ex, she's handling the debt anyway. This is NOT OK! What this rep told me, in a nut shell, is that I can't be taken off the account but it doesn't matter anyway as I wont be responsible for the dept.
My name's on the account. I'm responsible for any new debt regardless of what my ex and I decided 4 years ago. My name and info needs to be removed from the account. Period. Closing a bank account is way easier than this. Why is Chase making it so hard for me (after I verified my identity) to take my name off the account? I'm not trying to close it, I'm not trying to take my ex off the account, I'm trying to take MYSELF off the account. I don't like the idea of putting trust into someone I no longer talk to to make sure the account isn't late, or is not part of a bankruptcy. Especially when I am trying to buy a house!
I've heard horror stories about Chase before, now I'm experiencing one myself. Do yourself a favor and don't sign up with Chase, and if you have, close your accounts and go elsewhere -- if you can. They'll probably hold you hostage like they are me. I'd suggest a credit union.
Reason of review: Can I check all? Being held hostage with no solution offered is NOT OK. This is very bad business and Chase should be ashamed they treat customers-ANYONE-like this..
Preferred solution: I want my name and info removed from the account I am no longer affiliated with, and haven't been in almost 4 years. .
Chase Bank Cons: Lack of any reasonable solution.

Just close the account. Problem solved. You are Welcome !
You have to sign paperwork to remove yourself from a bank account. She must sign a new signature card. If you didn't do that then it is your fault not the bank.
