I went into a chase branch and deposited $370 with an actual human teller. I have to do this because I have an out of state account so they have to send the deposit to Kentucky si it usually takes 24-48 hours tops.

A few days later I called because the deposit was not showing and they said they had no record of the deposit.

Of course I could not find the receipt. I spoke with the manager and he did whatever research he did and there were no deposits for that amount that day or that week. Without a receipt they cannot help me. I said check the security cameras He said he needs to know the EXACT time i was in the bank I don't know the EXACT time i said just check from 4 to 5 Nope he needs the EXACT time.

Meanwhile i'm racking up overdraft fees and selling my soul to get cash to cover my debit charges. 25 years banking I have never had this happen !?!?!

Location: Temecula, California

I didn't know this was possible, but it just happened to me at fifth third bank. I made $600 cash deposit and it showed online as pending.

Then the next day it was gone without a trace. I went to the bank and the teller said no deposit was on record. I gave her my receipt and she then found record of but said the money was missing.

It's been 3 days and no credit yet. I plan to make another trip to the bank today to try and resolved.

I have had this happen twice with the same teller I am very sloppy with my account so who knows how often it has happen and I have not caught it. She had put the money into an inactive account both times, sure waiting to see if I noticed to take for herself later? I pay very close attention now.

Always and I mean ALWAYS keep your receipt (in a safe place). In the over 40 years of banking I have had banks and this is the term they used "misappropriate funds" it sounds like a fancy way of saying lost!

If it were not for my deposit receipt I would have no proof.

Once I used my own deposit slip ordered from the bank and they put my deposit in someone else's account. As I was walking out I looked at the receipt and did not recognize the account number I turned around and had them correct their error, thankfully I always write my account number on the back of the check I am depositing despite having a pre-printed deposit slip.

Wow! This EXACT thing happened to my step daughter last night (Friday) Chase no longer accepts cash deposits inside so she had to deposit the $1,000 into the ATM.. It gave her a receipt to call a number meanwhile her car payment is late!

After reading all this i will never use their deposit friendly atms. I always stash my receipts into my checkbook .

Cant remeber acct # so i take it w/ me to write deposit. I have never had a problem with chase except we opted out of overdraft option & chse failed to tell us that auto bill pay will over draft our account at thier descretion. Sneaky little suckers scored a $100 out of us already. No more b autobill paying for us .

I now use a visa pre paid debit card for auto bill pay which never overdrafts us.so u will get over drafted for online, phone,& auto bill pay which doesnt make since they claim not to overdraft at all when opted out. :(

I got a refund check from my College and had issues with Chase banks for over a year now. I have reported them to the BBB.org over several times.

and I guess now I am getting paid back by them stealing my refund check. I was given a check on Friday the 20th only to be told Wednesday there is no check and never was but I have a receipt.

Now i have to wait for my college to issue me another one. :(

I work late & decided to deposit 400 dollars cash at the chase ATM because I felt it would be safer then carrying that cash around. I slid my card, put my pin in and proceeded as normal to select cash deposit.

The machine opened & after I inserted my bills an error message came on screen. "this ATM experienced a technical problem, please call 800# to speak to claims" I sat then it gave me a reciept which I saved that only indicated the machine had an error, time/date , location & last 4 digits of my account #. This reciept did not give any dollar amount or balance. I sat in front of the ATM & called that 800# (in the meantime hoping my money would eject but it did not) the claim people immediatly credited 400 to my account BUT a month later when my account had very little in it CHASE reversed the credit stating that after they investigated it they only found that ATM to be 100 over leaving me with a negative balance of 378.00!

I'm trying to fight it & get them to investigate further & I'm about to make a police report so that they will look into the security footage. You can most likely see me sticking a stack of 20s into the ATM since its the kind that doesn't use envelopes. I'm so mad! On top of the 400 they lost they are now getting an additional 200 from me because my direct deposit was not able to be stopped by my employer & due to the negative balance I couldn't close my account so the bank just kept my pay check & deducted it from the negative balance!

They are still trying to figure out what happened so I'm at their mercy & very scared. If they can not find my money then I'm convinced a bank employee has figured out how to get away with stealing.

Does anyone know of any other steps I can take to get my hard earned money back? I live paycheck to paycheck and can not lose this money!

TWO times (and now maybe 3) have my deposits gone missing.

1. a cash deposit at a teller on a weekday, it didn't show up in my account in TWO days, luckily I found the receipt so I called them and they said theere was no deposit in my account, so i actually went to the bank and showed them, the guy finally figured out what went wrong and proceeded to tell me that the numbers on the deposit slip weren't written clearly so by some rare chance it went to an account somewhere else, what's funny, is the TELLER wrote down the account number from her screen.

2. my mom made a cash deposit and it didn't show up. (same branch). again, they said they had no record of it. luckily she had the receipt, we talked on the phone with them for so long and nothing happened so she went to the actual bank where she spent over an hour getting th whole thing sorted out.

i made a deposit at the atm 3 days ago its not showing up i have 5 34 $$ fees because the deposit was never made *** *** stole my money i have deposited more and they took it all in nsf fees

Guest

this seems to be happening to a lot of people, 1/19/2011 i made a 70$ deposit to my checking account at 3:30 pm, 4/20/2011 6:18pm the deposit has yet to show up. i have called and they said that there is no record of such deposit.

now 70$ may not seem like a lot of $ but when you are making minimum wage part time as well as part time student thats a full days work. luckily deposit was made in person and i received the recite so i should be fine, this type of thing should not be happening so frequently.

I recently wrote a check to my landlord for 1000 dollars from my checking from my bank....the money leaves my acct march 4th and should have been in her acct....4 days later i get a call from my landlord saying she never received the money so i check my acct and the 1000 dollars were gone and said it had been received to chase bank then I look closer and the bastards ran my check twice and I had an NSF return check fee on my acct.....so i call my bank and ask them whats going on.. of course being the great bank that they are returned me nsf fee that i was charged....

they tell me yes chase bank received the money and that they have no idea why chase ran my check twice....my landlord and chase bank state they never received the money and that i need to forfeit another 1000 dollars! I said *** you!!!!!!!!!

that would be 2000 dollars that i would be out of.... I dont know what kind of scam they have going on there but it needs to be corrected!

Last night I deposited 1000 dollars into my account via the ATM. I always like to check my account on BlackBerry to see if it has posted.

It did. Well, I got an alert this morning saying my account was negative. My deposit had DISAPPEARED! I thought that there was some kind of mistake.

I called Chase, and they said that they saw the deposit, and that deposits had been lost during the night...What the ***?!!! After waiting on hold for 10 minutes, THEN another 25, a claim specialist said that she would credit my account for the grand.

She also said it would take 3-4 hours. Trust and believe that at 3 hours and 59 minutes I will be checking!

I HATE Chase!! I NEVER had any problems with Washington Mutual until it merged with *** Chase!

Now it's *** up galore. THIS time I made a deposit of $500 on Friday @1pm and at Monday by 3pm it still has not posted. Thinking that it had i went ahead and paid my apt rent and as soon as i left the building i got a chase alert saying my acct was negative so i went looked online and it showed that my deposit was still pending. I called to talk to a representative to see if something was wrong with the check deposit and they said it would just take 1 to 2 business days and that it would clear overnight.

soo i asked her since the acct currently showed negative would i get charged and overdraft fee and she said theres no way to tell which transaction will clear first but if the rent did first that i would have an overdraft fee! so WTF am i supposed to do because every kind of *** deposit pends. even cash deposits r not available for immediate withrawal!!!!!! so i have money in an emergency account but it won't even matter if i deposit it or transfer it over because it won't clear until after the other transactions!!

If i get charged an overdraft fee and they DONT take it off for me i should throw the fee all in ones at the teller!!!!!! GRR HATE U CHASE

Yes, apparently this problem is happening again. I deposited 1K into my business account on Saturday, 8/7/2010.

It showed up as having been deposited in my business account when I looked online, although they always hold it until Monday before it actually clears. Today, 8/10/2010, I looked at the online posting, and there was no record of the 1K at all. I called the branch manager here, Demetria, and she had no record of it either. Thank heavens I had saved the paper receipt!

It usually ends up in a ball on the floor of the car and gets lost somewhere. Not smart, I know, but this time, luck was with me. Demetria told me to bring the receipt in right away. When I got to the branch, she was in melt down mode, having just received a nationwide bulletin from Chase indicating the some deposits at some branches were not credited over weekend because of some 'computer glitch'.

Whether that is true picks at the conspiracy questioner in the back of my mind, wondering if there was some attack on Chase's computer or whether they are covering up for some embezzler. But aside from my imagination, Demetria reports that she has been snowballed with missing deposits, but that all fees assessed will be removed and the money will be restored to my account by midnight tonight. We shall see. But if this has happened to you, perhaps this gives you some help in dealing with your local branch.

By now, the affected branch managers should know of the problem and be treating you kindly rather than giving you the cold, blank stare which means that they think you are full of ***. This shouldn't happen, and I too wonder if they do this so they can park more money in the Fed accounts and make income in interest that way. But as long as I get my money by tomorrow, I guess I'll shut up about it. Feels like I'm trapped in the movie, The Matrix, and my funds and identity have just been erased.

Know that feeling? :eek

Deposited $140. Cash Yesterday to a human teller, and it does not show in my bank today. This is the second time this has happened with my handwritten deposit slips since Wamu turned to Chase. I believe it has something to do with the numbers that go into a swipe/computer and its not written out well enough. ( handwritten) So probably went into another account. Luckily I have the receipt time dated . I'm very disgusted .. there should not be this many errors , and bank charges.

If I had been depositing that cash to cover a check.. I would have had an overdraft charge. But my bank would have reversed that. DO NOT LOSE ANY DEPOSIT , because of time stamp or cash.

This is a way to keep the money for an extra bit of time , and since they hold any check for 24 hours .. I have a suspicion they are using the money in the meantime.

Another Gripe I have .. Chase took all the signs out that post the dates , and the clocks out, too. So every time I go to fill in the date , I have to wait till I get up to the teller line , and there is one sign .

And whats up with new debit Chase card Overdraft protection.. I don't think so!
