Checking Account Close With NO Explanation, and Money Being Held Hostage
I've been a loyal credit card customer of Chase for years, and have never had a single late payment or any issues.
So when I recently moved and needed a new bank for my personal checking account, I naturally thought of Chase since there was a local branch just a few miles from my new home.
I opened an account online, and linked it to my credit card account with them. And began making deposits.
I used their app to make a remote deposit of a check a client sent me for $1275, and was informed that there would be a hold placed on the funds. Which was fine. I totally understand that is standard for most banks with a new checking account.
And I had around $2,500 in the account anyway from my previous deposits that went fine with them.
A few days after the deposit, I went into my local branch to make a small $300 withdrawal (which there was more than enough funds to cover out of the $2500 above and beyond the deposit with the hold on it.)
After dealing with the teller for nearly 20 minutes she put me on the phone with someone else at Chase who said that my account had been "restricted" because of the $1275 deposit, and I couldn't access or withdraw ANY of my other $2500 in the account until the $1275 check cleared.
While I was obviously frustrated, I had no choice but to wait. A few days later I got a notification that the $1275 check was fine and had indeed cleared, so I went online to make a payment from my checking to my Chase credit card and was given an error message that the transaction could not be processed.
So I called Chase and after being bounced around for 30 minutes from person to person, I wound up on the phone with a very rude and condescending person in their "risk management" department who informed me that my account was being closed, I could never again FOR LIFE bank with Chase, and he refused to tell me WHY the account was being closed.
All he did admit was that all of my deposits had cleared just fine, I had not had any issues with a single bounced check or any other negative activity on the account... Just that I and my business were (for no stated reason) not welcome at Chase, ever, for life.
So now they are holding ALL of my funds hostage, no one will tell me if or when I will get my thousands of dollars in my account returned to me, and I just paid to order checks which are now worthless.
I've NEVER experienced anything this frustrating or infuriating when dealing with ANY company in my entire life, and the part that is worse than them screwing with my money is they won't even provide an explanation of WHY!
I have had a perfect history with them for YEARS as a credit card customer, have never had any issues with my checking accounts at other banks, yet I'm (for no reason) banned for life from banking with Chase?! (Not that after this experience I'd ever even consider banking or borrowing from them! And I'd recommend that anyone who does, get's your money out of their incompetent, and rude hands as quickly as possible!)

Horrible Customer Service
Chase bank is a joke! A few weeks ago I had dropped my debit card at a gas station that I go to a lot so when I found out someone had turned it in I did not think about looking for unauthorized charges.
I was dealing with my daughter who was in suicidal, and my mom who was in the hospital on life support so I really didn't have much time other than logging on to check my balance. So last week I found a charge that was made at the gas station I lost the card at that I did not make or authorize. I called Chase to file a claim and only a few days later I received a letter the charge was being billed back to me, no explanation why just that the money would be taken back out of my account. When I called to find out why they said because the chip on the card was used!!
The person who filed my claim didn't make notes on the fact I had lost my card there and found out they had it a few days later. When I explained that to the manager they didn't care and said they couldn't do anything anymore. I am so disappointed and disgusted with Chase that they would treat their customers like they are liars and they are not willing to actually do a true investigation on my claim!
I have been their customer fore years and first thing Friday morning after my pay check is deposited I am going to close my accounts and have my whole family close their accounts too. Any bank that denies a claim without doing a reasonable investigation is not a bank I want to do BUSINESS with ever!!

Verified ReviewerFailure to honor trip interruption and trip delay benefit
I made reservations and paid for virtually all expenses for my trip, including airfare, hotels, transfers, meals, shopping, etc. using my Chase Ink Visa Card.
On the way to Catania from Milan on May 30, my flight was delayed and eventually cancelled approximately 5 hours after its scheduled departure and after I had boarded and been on the plane for more than an hour. All passengers were asked to deplane the aircraft and were stuck in the Milan Malpensa airport with no assistance whatsoever from the carrier RyanAir. I had already been traveling for approximately 24 hours at this point, and was now stuck in a foreign airport after midnight with no recourse or ability to secure transportation or lodging. After spending the entire night without sleep, I was finally able to book a flight to my destination out of Milan's other airport on Alitalia, albeit at a different airport and at significantly higher cost.
Upon returning home, I tried to make trip interruption and trip delay claims provided under Chase's credit card agreement. This service is provided through a website called Card Benefit Services (www.eclaimsline.com) which is owned by Allianz Global, and after seven weeks of repeated email and fax documentation submissions and more than 15 telephone calls, neither claim has progressed. I have received a litany of excuses as to why, all of which are unsubstantiated. I have attempted to submit documentation using their website as instructed using two different computer (one Windows and one Mac OS), using three different web browsers in each operating system as well as trying an iPad and iPhone, Every time I received and error message stating that there was a problem and to call customer service.
Each time I called customer service and was given a different excuse and told to submit my documentation either by email or fax. I have submitted every document via both email and fax, have had no emails bounce back and have every fax confirmation that my transmissions were successful. I have called virtually daily to follow up and continue to receive excuses as to why they have not received my documentation and hence why they cannot process my claims. I literally have run out of avenues to pursue my meticulously documented claims, and believe that Chase's insurance claim processing service is either completely incompetent or potentially fraudulent.
Each call has involved a different customer service agent who has provided different or conflicting information and refused to let me speak to a supervisor, a technician responsible for website administration and document processing and the claim adjuster allegedly assigned to my case. Chase and Allianz Global have been completely negligent and should be admonished for their failure to honor their credit card agreement and attempting to deny legitimate claims thereunder.

CHASE BANK not fair not reimbursing for fraud
CHASE bank is not standing by me or my business when it comes to my unfortunate employee fraud case. Even though the employee was in custody and will be arraigned downtown LA, and she was not a signer on any of the accounts and CHASE accepted and cashed checks not signed by me, CHASE refuses to reimburse me or my company.
This letter is the only explanation that I can get from my private banker and the CHASE executive offices.
The people in the executive offices were also very rude and had a ”too bad for you” attitude. I am looking for suggestions and I want my neighbors and fellow entrepreneurs to know about this so that you can choose another bank.

Horrible Customer Service
Yesterday I placed an order on Amazon and made my payment through Chase freedom card.I received email from Amazon that Chase declined payment.
Today I purchased groceries from Traders Joe and again my Chase credit card was declined.
I called Chase and was informed on their automated service that due to security reasons my credit card has been blocked and it was never communicated to me by Chase potting me in an embarrassing position in store.
To put salt into wound, it’s not easy to contact directly to a person who can listen to your complaint.
Monthly fees
So for the first time in many years my savings account dropped to below $15k as I recently made several large transfers to pay off some bills, get my son off to college etc. As I was checking my balances and expenses I noticed a $20.00 charge " monthly service fee".
Not knowing what this is I called the bank and was informed that because my combined month balance between my savings and checking did not meet the monthly requirement of at least $15k I was charged a $20 fee. The balances between my accounts was around $13800 combined so I missed it by not having another $1200 in my account. I guess my point is this. One I have never been charged this before and two it seems to me that Chase is doing things backwards.
They are allowing people with lots of money to get free monthly services and charging the people that are least likely to be able to afford it? Then the people with lots of money you are using that money to make internal bank investments to make additional profits? Basically investing money that doesn't belong to you? Its $20 and not a big deal for me.
I will transfer money and get my balance back above $15k but I definitely feel sorry for your customers who are on fixed incomes or low income families.
I realize you need to make a profit but either charge every one the same or don't charge anyone and offer the services for free for people keeping their money in your bank so that you can invest it to make a profit. Thinking about actually changing banks and I have been with Chase for 15 years.
