Chase Bank - Account Review from Long Beach, California

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had called chase today to ask about insufficient funds fees. I knew that I would have been over drawn for 1 transaction, but the next day the bank had arranged the transactions so I was over drawn for 3 transactions all equaling to 34 dollars so I was charged over 100 dollars in insufficient funds fees. I'm not one to complain about an insufficient funds fee when I know I will be overdrawn but 3 times, when the transactions were all rearranged the following day is ridiculous. I received the worst customer service. The lady on the phone was completely disrespectful by responding to my statement of 100 dollars in over draft fees being ridiculous with "yes, it is ridiculous for you to be overdrawing your account". What happened to the customer always being right? Even if you can't fix the over draft fees, I still expect the customer service to be excellent, and for the person on the phone to be compassionate and explain in a nice matter. Not talk down to me and try to parent me.

WARNING RE CHASE DEBIT AND CREDIT CARDS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
i am with chase many years and for the first time i had trouble using my debit card which has huge balance on it for a small purchase. i call the number in the back immediately and im on hold about 25 minutes. i have to answer a ton of questions before i get transferred. it is now midnight and i am worried about my savings. i tell the person who answers that i might be a victim of identity theft and want to check on my debit card which is no longer working with a large balance. amazingly infact shockingly i am told for them to help me i have to answer the following questions which i will list here.... full debit card number the last three numbers on the back the expiration date my full social security number my date of birth my phone number my mothers maiden name i am furious and tell them if i was not a victim before i will be by giving out all my personal info. i explain those are the total questions a person needs to know to actually become me. i say if this is used against me how would i prove it was not me when all those answers are known only to me? i am switched to another person. i have to answer the same questions which i refuse the last three. i am sent to a manager who says she feels for me but to help me i need to release all this info. i tell her abut the emails chase sends out that no one should give out their info over the phone and now your asking for what your email warned not to do. she says that is from another part of the company and she needs this info to move forward. I THINK THIS IS SO MESSED UP THAT I WANT TO CLOSE ALL ACCOUNTS WITH CHASE. I WANT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO DO LIKEWISE. I WANT TO WARN EVERYONE USING FACEBOOK THAT IF YOU EVER HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANY CARDS WITH CHASE YOU WILL HAVE TO RELEASE ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFO. THE MANAGER SAYS SHE CAN NOT SEE MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT ALL THE INFO AND THEN I MIGHT HAVE FURTHER LOSSES IF I POSTPONE ANSWERING. THE BANK DOES NOT EVEN CARE IF I AM BEING RIPPED OFF.

As long as I know I am really calling chase, I give them the info they ask for. One time in the branch they asked for my pin!

That I would not do.

I had a problem with my B of A debit card that I ONLY used at Arco and B of A ATMs; someone charged $400 on it at walmart even though the card was never lost. B of A denied my claim; when I asked for walmart video the bank told me I could "appeal" the denial. I did so and they credited me.

I will not use debit card at ARCO again.

Chase Bank NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been putting up with Chase's new policies for about a year now. First they started requiring driver's lic to deposit any cash into any account. No matter if they knew you or if it was a family member. What is the loss to them if a deposit was wrong? Big inconvenience So now I not only have to send away my driver Lic along with the deposit. So I stopped using any drive up or teller. I did ATM. Then I was out of town, There wasn't a Chase Bank any where on the east coast. I was notified of an overdraft. I tried to deposit remotely a check that would correct balance. Because I overdraft I could not use the remote check deposit. Told them I was out of town and they checked to see if any banks were available. Guess what there was none. They said they could do nothing and was charged for every day over the limit. Fortuneatley my son was an old chase bank customer that was still connected to my account and he transferred money into account. So if you are a bad boy then they take tools away from customers. Either remote deposit is part of the checking account or isn't. It isn't something you take away because you made a mistake on your checking account. Next thy changed log in on the internet and phone app. My password did not have a special character in it. It never did. Yesterday I had to go into bank because nothing was working to deposit cash. Waited for a Banker he reset everything and that is when I found out about the change in log in screens and password requirements. You also now have to choose your language before you put in your pin on ATMS. I had to take my time and go into a bank to find this out. I then had it. I cancelled all accounts. Not once did they tried to convience me to stay. I told them why and I was told he had heard a lot of people were canceling accounts becausee of their new policies. Heaven forbid going over the limit. For $6.99 for 1 day they immediately report to credit collection agencies. No more forgiveness. I truly hope Chase doesn't get any bigger. They do not deserve to bank with the big boys. Found a friendly National Bank with a lot lower fees and even earn interest on my checking account. I should have done it sooner but I usually am a loyal client.

I want to make sure I address your review for each point.

1.

Stop spending money you don't have. It is just that easy to avoid overdraft fees.

2. You were not charged everyday you were overdrawn. So that is a lie.

You are only charged per item.

3. You are not required to have a special character it is optional. It even says it on their screens.

4. The language at the ATM is also optional...not required.

Also...not sure why this is a complaint by you?

5. Sounds like someone needs to understand before complaining.

Chase probably thought the same way. Good riddance.

Three year business relationship went up in smoke because I got upset with an investigator. Uneducated as to business laws and very high handed. Local officers tried to make it better but we are done. Sad to see such arrogance from Banks these days.

Chase not standing behind their promise

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
August 7, 2015 I have an insurance claim for water damage on my home. I mailed the claim check over night mail to Chase and they were suppose to sign the check and send it back to me via UPS over night. When I inquired 2 days later they did not do this, they sent it regular mail. I asked why they could not answer me and a supervisor would not get on the phone, she told the customer service person there was nothing she could do about it. I have been on the phone for 45 minutes trying to file a complaint but no one is able to help me. Will someone please answer me. This is so unprofessional.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Ok, I believe it is time to SUE Chase Bank. They have repeatedly stopped me from making charges using my Debit/Credit card claiming "potential fraud". I have been embarrassed multiple times by them stopping charges at places I usually shop. Seriously, Chase! I shop at Dillard's ALL THE TIME. You allow 3 charges to go through and NOT the 4th! Very very embarrassed in front of three women. I am putting on social media so others know about your ridiculous and possibly illegal practices by not allowing me access to my money. NOT!!!!! I am upset and embarrassed and want others to know how horrible you are. You say to use my PIN. I have never used a PIN and won't with all the hackers out there. Using as credit is much safer........

Very humiliated. Nordstrom sale, 5 people deep at counter.

Denied after multiple tries, got through to chase on the phone. Was told it was because they don't see a history with Nordstrom. Really? What if I didn't have a history with Marriott, got declined and everyone was booked.

Sleep in my car?

Messed up practice. Really pissed.

You most likely overdrawn your account or you visited websites using your pc without anti virus and your debit card was compromised. Chase is just protecting your funds and make sure there are no unauthorized charges in your account.

Guest

Neither. I have never overdrawn.

They called and their reasoning was it was the 4th charge at the same store in a short period of time. They apologized for not notifying me. Whoopee.

They have numerous ways to reach me. Again, this has happened multiple times

Guest

Using a PIN is MUCH safer, since nobody can use your card without knowing it...not sure why you think credit is safer!

Because you get the same protection of a credit card.

Customer Service SUCKS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My dad opened a Chase savings account for me when I was in elementary school and I just saw on my last statement that they closed my account and sent the money (about $70) to the state as "unclaimed property" without attempting to contact me at all! I know they had my mailing address since I was still receiving statements. I called to ask if I could get my money and close the account and the very rude woman I spoke with said it would be "very hard" with "a lot of steps" to get it back. She asked for not only my full name but also my ENTIRE social security number (not the last 4). Then, she asked if I would like to be put on hold so she could gather the information for the state and I said no thanks because it was already too much of a hassle for the small amount of money, in my opinion, and so she hung up on me! I called back and a man answered. I asked him for the name of the lady that I spoke with and asked if I could speak with a manager and he said she WAS the manager! THE MANAGER HUNG UP ON ME!! I HATE Chase. Credit Unions are so much better!

Review in Banks category from Lansing, Michigan

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
In Lansing, Michigan they are unable to provide a notary seal in any of their branch. They say " Sorry, I don't have a notary seal". The offices at South Pennsylvania and Saginaw Hwy sent me to other banks different than Chase or other offices they have in other cities. It sounds ridiculouse for a bank to be unable have no way to legalize/notarize papers. Somebody may organize a charity event to help them get a notary seal since they need one that much.!

Lack of Claims Help and Rude Claims Representitive

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had a company that I had done a free trial with charge me before my trial period ended, so I called Chase to stop the payment and have the money put back into my account. It's a Friday, a week from payday, when every dime counts, and I need my money to get my daughter and I through the weekend. I wait on hold for 45 min and was picked up by an unknown agent. She refused to give me her name, and then put in the claim, telling me that my money wouldn't be in my account until next week. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the agent became rude, over talking me, and being flippant. When I told her that I would take this to the next level, she said "whatever" and then hung up. I'm over Chase. Looking into another bank for both my self and my business. You don't need me, I don't need you.

Organizing incoming checks to create the most insufficient funds

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This a an unethical practice that Chase chooses to do. They purposely organize incoming checks from the largest to the smallest to create the most insufficient checks to get more fees out of you. We have accounts at other banks as well and they do just the opposite to demonstrate they care about the impact that a mistake can have on their customers. Chase does not care and have customer service people tell me they feel the same way but that is how they have it set up. It seems as though there would be some legal issues here as well but I am not an attorney but will continue to speak to people to find out

The Worst Customer Service...When you End up in the Philippines Call Center

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

i called to follow up on a dispute for a credit card charge. I ended up in the Chase call center in the Philippines. When I placed the call I was told to hold on after the call ended as I was selected to complete a survey.

The customer service agents are robotic and not very helpful. There is a cultural difference in the expectations of customer service which they never seem to achieve. In addition I encounter some that do not speak English very well. Everything is lost in translation so to speak.

I told the representative she was not helpful at all and to hang up the phone as I wanted to complete the customer survey I was selected for after the call. She refused to end the call from her end. If I hung up I would not be able to answer the survey I had been selected for and she knew that.

I help the line open for 20 minutes as she sat there refusing to hang up when I asked her to do so.

The overseas call centers leave a very black eye on Chase. I was finally able to be transferred to an American call center after I called Chase back. I filed a fomal complaint against the customer service rep in the Philippines. I was also able to change the settings on my account such that anytime I call in and punch in my bank details I will be sent to a US based call center only.

Chase needs to sit down with "Camille" a supervisor in the dispute department at the Philippines, and go over customer service expectations and procedures.

I had a similar experience in being transferred form department to department, when all I needed was fraud alerts sent to my phone. Today again calling the fraud department for charges on my card coming from some phone app that I've never used.

Both of the people I talked to wouldn't even allow me to finish a sentence before they interrupted me. They asked me for PII over the phone, not because they wanted to verify my account, but because they had no idea who I was even after giving them my full name. They even asked for my full social.

In the past I've had some amazing experiences with the fraud department when my card was stolen, *** even when they turned off my card for suspected fraud I thanked them over and over. Since the call center was shipped to the philippines, it's really gone down hill.

Totally agree

I had a similar experience where i need payment from a client as quick pay watched my Representative at Redding Br CA enter my details and email but left in the hands of over sea data enter my details especially my email need allow quick . The Call Center I reached was in the Philippines where I got a trainee.

The Rep on the phone who could not I identify me after providing client card # Pin # my full name address zip code Acc # Routing # I then ask for a supervisor and paced on hold ; I then was prompt for brief customer survey and the line went dead. I called back and again was promoted to customer survey and each time I try to get a rep and over and over again... Finally on my forth return call I was able to speak to a customer rep "In The Philippines " I had a difficult time understanding the Rep and I don t think she fully under stood what I was saying have time and vs verse. Only after 3 and 1/2 hours was I able to change my email.

It was too late for my client and he oped with my account details to make payment in cash At Chase Branch In Tarzana Ca . He was declined to do so Because does not accept cash deposits from anyone but account holder ? / ? / ?

. In @ chase Tarzana branch cash and debit card in hand the chase need not give my client the any option of alternate payment. Still That i preexisted with patients and phoned CHASE BANK CUSTOMER SERVICE PHILIPPINES and ask what were my best methods of payment for the next Tuesday I was assured that payment could be received by cheque so my client on Friday deposit an in state cheque which I was assure would clear in 1 to 2 days... Chase Bank t 15 day hold on my customers cheque TARZANA CA and again gave client no information that the hold would 15 days.

Any Cash and go check cashing service can clear a CHEQUE IN STATE OR OUT OF STATE IN MINUTES ......... ??????

I want to Start a Class action suit against Chase and there lack of due diligence discrimination and and prejudicial treatment only allowing access.... to a chase liquid card and direct my call and other card client holders directly to untrained un qualified reps who have not proper supervision and monitoring agents taking

Guest

"The customer service agents are robotic and not very helpful"No, they're simply following the orders of their corporate masters who want to keep costs down to help the shareholders and not have you complain about high fees.Tell them you're willing to pay more in fees for onshore call centers if you feel this way. You're asking for this when you ask for cheap in any industry. My only complaint with offshore call centers is they ARE NOT GIVEN authority to handle complex issues and have to stay on script. They ARE NOT GIVEN the same permissions to view data onshore agents can.Again....Want onshore agents agree to pay more in fees.

Guest

Chase Bank has the worst customer service. Their Filipino workers are not well versed in our banking system.

Initially, I called Chase regarding fraudulent transactions on my account. After reversing the charges, and me submitting a form verifying the fraud, Chase reinstated the charges without notification. I requested evidence of the transactions, of which I have yet to receive. The Filipina representative said there were inconsistencies with my fraud contentions.

HOW??!! The last transaction on my card occurred in my home city of San Francisco. Seven minutes later, there were give transactions which occurred at a Rite Aid store in Southern California, some 400 miles away. Now, unless this is Star Trek, there is no possible way for me to have gotten to the Los Angeles area in less than ten minutes.

Therefore, nothing has to be figured out. I did not make those purchases! What aren't they able to understand?

Obvoiusly, Chase has severe security issues. Most likely, I will close my account and sue them to recover the amount I've lost.

Guest

Chase is the worst. Had a hacked purchase involving fraud.

Have company, vendor all confirming fraud yet Philippine CS or branch did not care and paid money anyway. They are the worst.

I called Chase credit card and I knew I’m speaking a male customer rep from Philippines. I don’t like how he talked to me, maybe he’s tired because the time there between 12:30-1:30 a.m.

I hope he’s not in “Shabu “ pills that make you awake all day but aggressive attitude.

I hope all Americans companies are using Americans for customer service agents not foreigners. I know Americans companies they wanted a big profits for using overseas (BPO)

I was transferred to a Philippines rep at Chase for a dispute today. She was nice, but there was a definite language barrier.

She kept asking me to repeat the same information over and over. I'm sure she did not fully understand the issue by the time we hung up.

In all likelihood, at some point, a rep in the USA will have to fix my issue. How does that save Chase money?

I don't agree with overshore calling centers period, but it's even worse when you're discusssing something as complicated as a dispute.

Guest

The same thing happened to me - it was so frustrating!

Guest

actually I really apreciate the chase Bank call center in the phillipines, They were very helpful in pointing out another charge along with the disputed charge I had. So they comped me both charges and I have a new debit card in the mail.
