Chase Bank Repeatedly Lied to Me
Washington Mutual was taken over by Chase about a year after my company folded and I lost my job. During that time, I kept up my payments on time though it was difficult to stay afloat. When it became clear that I was going to have trouble, I called them and explained that I would need to pay a bit less for two months but I would make up for it the following month. "No problem," they said. I had been a good customer for years and they understood. Did I want to close the account? No, I wanted to keep it open so I could maintain a credit rating. It was just for two months. Okay, good. Indeed, I was paid for the freelance job I was doing and made up the difference. But a month later my interest rate jumped to 29.99%. I called and was told that they can do that at any time without reason. It's part of the fine print. But with that interest rate I would have a hard time keeping up minimum payments and would run the risk of going over my credit limit. Oh, by the way, they informed me: we've reduced your credit limit and you are $2 from exceeding it. I scrambled and kept up with the payments on time and in full. After several months, I called them and asked to have my interest rate reduced again. No, they can't do that because the account is closed. What? They promised they would keep it open. I begged with them to reopen it because I didn't want a mark on my credit. No luck. Can I talk to your supervisor? No, I don't have a supervisor. I wrote to customer service. They refused to reopen my account. I wrote and asked them to lower my interest rate. No, they won't do it because my account is closed. I understand they have to make a profit. It's a business. It isn't their fault that I couldn't pay the entire amount for two months. I'm still out of work nearly two years later, surviving on occasional freelance gigs yet keeping up on my payments. It isn't like I'm not a responsible person. I'm over 60 years old and spend every day jobhunting, even though I have been told that in this economy at my age I should count on never having a job again. I could have just folded up and left Chase with a $10,000 bad debt. But I keep paying it. It's now under $7,000 because I believe in paying my debts. But I am so pissed that they lied to me repeatedly to get me to pay and after years of being a good customer they are screwing me and will not listen to reason. These people need to be stopped. I cannot imagine how anyone could work for such a ruthless, unscrupulous company

Chase - Credit Line Termination
August 19, 2009 Executive Office Attn: Nancy Stoneman, VP Mail Code IL1-6215 2500 Westfield Drive Elgin, IL 60124 RE: Check Gallery VISA Account **** **** **** 3805 Thank you for the letter in response to my request for Chase to re-open my account they closed due to "no activity". From the letter, I see you decided to not re-open my account but never said exactly why. Next time you might want to be clearer as to why the request to re-open an account was denied. But regardless, here's my response to your letter. First off, I am not some deadbeat consumer and I have a spotless credit history that spans some 20+ years. Have I ever been late, overdrawn, filed bankruptcy, or anything of the like? No, never, not with you or any other creditor…EVER. In times like this you should be lucky to have a customer like me on your books. What makes this somewhat humorous is a few months ago you gave my small business a credit line and then decided to cut my personal line and close my account for "any reason" as you so kindly pointed out in your letter to me. As soon as my 0% free ride period is up that account will be closed by me, you don't deserve a consumer like me, my business doesn't need a bank like you and I personally don't want to do business with Chase ever again. What's so disturbing about all this is at the same time you treat good consumers like this you are getting $25 Billion in Federal TARP money (aka taxpayer money, aka my money) to bail out Chase since they mismanaged their business. Glad I could spot you a few bucks, too bad you couldn't pay it forward. Chase is clearly a bunch of corporate crooks and it's nice that you let it be known by all this. Since this is the end of our relationship, please stop sending myself and my business "pre approved" offers in the mail. The next one that comes is being sent back to Chase with a brick attached to it. Chase is paying for the postage aren't they? Oh wait, that would be me and my TARP money I loaned Chase. Chase added a charge to my credit card overpaying adt
I contracted ADT for services and they installed camera, monitor and vcr to record surveillance. The total amount was $1000.00. I paid some cash a check and the balance on the credit card. An internal person named Ferret took it upon himself to up the charge another $500.00 -thereby overpaying the contracted rate by $500.00. I called him and his supvr no no avail - (why is this their business) needless to say I cancelled the credit card with the false charge made by chase employee and let it go to the credit bureau- I paid for these items once -not paying $500.00 above the contracted rate.

Sold/gave may account to Chase, then reduced my credit limit
Wachovia sold or gave my account to Chase Bank and then Chase closed that account and gave me a new account with reduced credit limit. I called and complained, and the reason for the reduced credit was I haddened used my card that much. My account was alwasys paid off each month. I got an email from WAchovia indicating that I needed to renew my account information or they would close my acount. They must think I am "***" or something. I guess that is why the CEO's get millions when "***" customers to fall for their misleading ways.

Chase Student Loans
Chase is a horrible company to deal with. They "can not find" the faxes that are sent to them (x4), customer service can rarely speak English, and the Customer Service Reps are rude and unprofessional when you finally are able to speak to someone. Chase Student Loans offer forbearance forms online, but do not think that the company will actually process, or approve, the form once you have faxed it to them repeatedly. If you are in the process of getting college loans, my recommendation would be to go through ANY other company. My loans were purchased by Chase, but I have cancelled my checking & savings accounts that were originally WAMU.

$35.00 for a $.30 charge?
My grandmother is a senior citizen (98) and her only income is social security. Each and every month we get down to about a week before her new money comes in and she has some insufficient fund charge. That is not the issue, except that I had heard that it was not on the up and up to charge an insufficient fee against government monies. Anyway, she just got charged $35 for a $.30 charge which I didn't realize was coming in before her money. I called Chase and was told that if her account was overdrawn, they were going to pay the $.30 and charge her the $35.00. I thought the rule was anything under $2.00 would not have insufficent fund charge. I was also told that they could not reverse it, because they had given me a "courtesy reversal" earlier in the year. Yes, that was when I raised holy "h___" when they charged her $35 for a charge under $2.00 Unbelievable!

Former Wamu customer screwed by Chase Bank
After being promised several times that wamu accounts rules will be grandfathered in Chase has chosen to ignore this promise. 2 factual instances: First, cashier checks from wamu were free. Chase $8. Second at the close of the business day and the account is processed, Ugly Chase processes the largest check first and small ones second thus resulting in additional fee for this *** bank to collect if you fall into overdraft. This is a clear change in policy and one wamu and bofa do not do. At the very least we should have been notified. They Suck and deserve to be driven from business. Please do not support this joke of a bank.

Chase bank fees are ridiculous
I just got taken by Chase bank. They never notified me that a CD was expired. Now they want to charge me $72 for withdrawing my own money after they renewed my CD at 0.2%. This is theft or extorsion. They will make money with my money for free...while I am the sucker who has to wait for the other 'grace period' in late 2010! The person who sold me the CD had told me that the CD would be deposited in my checking upon maturity...while the paperwork said something else. DO NOT TRUST CHASE. READ ALL THE FINE PRINTS...They will *** anyway they can and will tell you to go away when you have a complaint. I will close all my chase accounts.

Chase steals deposit
I went to the bank and deposited my husband's beneficiary check. The teller said there would be a hold on the account to release the money. I would get part now, and in a few days would have the rest. Next morning, I get up check my account. Just like the man said there was 4000 dollars in my account. During that day I watched as my account went from 4300 dollars, up to 14,000 dollars, up to 25,000 dollars. Should have never been more than 14,000. Got up the next morning......all but 52 dollars of my money was gone. The bank pulled it all out and put a hold on everything including the money I had before the deposit. My son lost out on his 16th birthday a Trip to Disneyland, and we still can't get our money. Chase is a bunch of crooks. If someone else did this, they would go to jail, but Chase is hiding behind their guise as a bank. In reality my money makes money for them, so they want to hold it as long as humanly possible. After talking in depth with chase, I found out that they can extend the hold on my money up to 15 business days. Even after the 15 days if someone in the office decides to. Don't bank with Chase, They are crooked beyond crooked. They will steal you blind.

Chase has really messed me up.
Chase really messed me up good. They offered me a special forbearance. I thought this was wonderful after loosing my job as a Banking Center Manager with Washington Mutual (now Chase). Month after month they said all was well. In the 5 month they told me that my income did not qualify me for the loan modification? And they need 8000.00 and my payments would go back to what they were or start foreclosure. I am now in foreclosure and doing a reverse with Well Fargo. Still can not get satisfaction with Chase. Class action suit I am in.

Chase Credit Department Mismanagment
Chase Bank credit cards are a joke. They will soak you for money any way they can, especially in late fees. I finally closed my account and I still get bills! And the so called supervisors will not transfer you to any customer relations department stating there is none! They will not help you saying they cannot transfer your call to another office. What a joke. I would never, ever, go with a Chase bank card again. If they fail as a bank I would not be suprised. Capital One for example is by far a much better bank card.

I have been cheated!
Here is a copy of an e-mail I have sent to CheapOAir. To whom it may concern: I believe I'm beginning to understand why you call yourselves "cheapo"! After repeated - unsuccessful - attempts at getting through to someone who could actually help me, rather than just pass me on to someone else, I've decided to send yet another e-mail. Here is the problem - and my complaint. Around Sept. 15th, we booked/ordered a couple of tickets on behalf of our daughter, Dana Stewart. After two weeks ( the 29th of Sept., to be exact), and just before she was to fly to the United States, we began to wonder why we hadn't yet received said tickets. After several phone calls, we found out that the purchase hadn't gone through after all! We were then informed that we could purchase the tickets again, but that the price would be "somewhat" higher. According to the woman we spoke with, our credit card company had evidently declined the transaction. However, after having received our bill, I called Chase Bank (our credit card issuer). They maintain that they did NOT decline the purchase and that our credit card was - and is - valid. Instead, they refer to what happened as a "referred to issuer transaction" where a transfer of code to the bank in question was never completed. In other words, due to negligence on your part, I have ended up paying 1,106.90 dollars - excluding fees and taxes (see booking nrs. 299**** and 299****) rather than the original price of 606.77 USD. THAT IS A 500 DOLLAR DIFFERENCE due to your error! To be concise, I demand that we be compensated for the difference between the original price and the final price you have charged us. What you have done is not good business practice and will only hurt your reputation. Sitting on an order and then forcing the customer to reorder at a higher price is actually a form of the old "bait and switch" ploy and is illegal. I expect to hear back from you shortly. I have already spendt several hours of my time and quite a bit of money phoning long distance from Denmark, where we live (only to be forever transferred until my patience has been exhausted). I expect justice to be served. I have both friends and relatives in the US who will have no qualms whatsover about tying up your toll free number if we have to continue with this case. I work hard for my money, as your irritating answering machine message suggests, but I doubt I - or my family and friends - can consider your company "hands down, the best deal in town". Sincerely, Wynn Stewart +45 (Denmark) 3535****

CHASE BANK, cost $100s in fees
Change banks if you have an account at Chase Bank, formally Washington Mutual. Stay away Chase Bank. Don't open an account, or if you have an account with the bank now close your account asap. When they took over Washington Mutual talked a good game and how nothing would change however, service and interest rates went in the toilet. However the fees and the ripping off of the customers skyrocketed. If you listen to financial radio show they warned of this happening. I didn't get out soon enough. Don't make the same mistake. Get out now before it cost you hundred of dollars as it did me.

Chase is haboring scams that are hiding in Arizona telemarketers. They have accounts with the scammers, Economic Freedom, My Choice Business Services, and what ever name they choose to call themselves while scamming the american people.
Chase continues to not return the funds that were disputed when they were scammed by telemarketers out of Arizona. Do not do business with CHASE, they do not care about there customers, no matter how long you have been a 20 something customer with them. I did not even sign for the product, it was scammed from my household. How is that when I am the only signer on the card.
All they say is it came out of your household. There is no product.
Chase is ???? you fill in the work
You continue to contact me and harrass me regarding a faudulent charge on my credit card that was reported to you on the date I received my statement, January 21, 2010. It has been filed with the local authorities and FBI, since the purchases were made out of state. According to the law, My obligation is for $50, if that since I reported it to you and canceled my card on January 21, 2010, yet you sent me another card which I shredded due to the amount that has been allowed to be placed by you without notifiying me of the over charges until they were done. My past charges with your company speak for themselves, I never charged those amounts and my only debt to you is as I said for the $1260.00 to Habits for Humanity which I am paying at $100.00 per month. If I receive any more harrassing calls from you then I will contact our attorney general's office for relief and the FCC will be notified of your conduct in this matter. I am the VICTIM not the abuser.

My balance on the Chase CC was $ 2,900 out of $ 3,000 available. Chase closed the credit line stating that it is too risky to keep it open.
I have tried to explain that they have $ 100 at risk and by closig it they put $ 2,900 at risk. It looks like people overthere who are responsible for making decisiion could not understand simple banking. Also, they could not understand that after closing LOC the balance becoming simple loan and, therefore, 29% they want to continue charging me is now usury.
If politicians wanted really to help people, they would give Chase money in exchange for reducing customer balances.
Instead taxpayer money were giving without strings attached.
I think it is about time to make banks and politician alike accountable for their actions. They should pay out of their own pockets and plans and accounts.
Join a credit union. Banks are a scam in general.
I've also had the Chase debit card issued by Texas' unemployment insurance refused at gas stations. This is a new development, and it happened at two different companies on the same day, so I'm guessing the problem is Chase. My wife returned her AARP card from Chase after they raised the interest rate.
I'm like the others...good credit, paid on time, paid more than minimal payment and they flat out cutoff my credit line. Called many times complaining.
CHASE CAN KISS BIG O FAT *** And I'm working hard to pay off what I owe. No telling what I might tell them whenever I mail my final payment.
Fia, Citi, Citi Group, Bank of America, Chase, the only one so far that I feel is a good bank is Wachovia/Wells Fargo see I use the term lightly because they raised interest from 0% to 8.75 that is very fair my fico is 600 because of the dam other banks cutting lines so it looks like you max out your cards. But we the people need to take a stand we vote in the political dip sticks and they don't help at all but give our tax money away to banks and car companys, Did you ever get a free loan or car?
If everyone goes back to the old days pull the money out of the bank and but a safe keep it home we can bring all of them to the bottom then you will become Mr.
Jone not a *** fico number. Good Luck
I have had Chase cc for at least 20 yrs, always made my payments on time, mostly in full until the last few yrs. Then one day I get statement w/over limit fee, not having charged a thing!
When I called them, they say my limit was lowered, which made it lower than what I owed, thus an over limit charge!
I complained, they eventually raised the limit to just over what I owed (so nice of them), in the meantime, it went against my credit (which until then was great). Seems like every time I think I will get ahead, they lower my limits and it makes it look like I keep charging and charging!
Few Months ago The “Generous†CHASE Bank took over WAMU…
Now they prove to be the biggest scanners I ever know.
End of July 2009 They inform met that my credit limit was lowered from 25,000 Dollars to 4,900.
They listed the reason being that My account is to new
I contacted and ask them what is too new “IS†? Because I had it since 1998 A little over 11 years…..Never been late or over Drowned.
They told me over the phone that I need a Credit report sent to them…
I did sent the TRW report to them .It is already 2 months and no reply.
IS THERE A BIGGER SCANNER THAT THE CHASE BANK?
They went bagging for Federal money they do not use and go for more form us?
Incidentally as a reply they sent to me a letter informing me that interest rates went up too…
My Story…even true..I am asking any one can tell me WHAT we are going to do about it?....
Any Ideas?
Anton
OMG! I can't believe what I am reading on this site.
My 19 yr. old daughter had an account with WAMU and they were a great bank as far as I could see from her account. The situation that happened with her is this - she has a checking account in which she deposits her measly part-time pay checks in every week; she also has a savings account with over $1500 in it. Now when it was WAMU, if she overdrew on her checking account they would automatically transfer the funds from her savings; apparently Chase doesn't do this.
In July she made an $80 dollar payment to her little credit card with a $250 limit. There was not enough in her checking to cover it (short by $5); instead of transferring the money from her savings they returned it to the cc company as insufficient funds and charged her like $35 for the returned payment. The cc company submitted the payment again a few days later and again it was returned and the bank charged her. In addition the cc company charged her $37 a piece for each time it was returned, another $37 for overlimit fee (it went over the limit with the 2 $37 returned check fees), and another $37 for the payment now being late.
Now her $250 limit card has a balance of nearly $500! I have been telling her to go to the bank and find out why they weren't transferring the money from the savings. After all I have read on here I am going to take her to the bank tomorrow and try to get some of these charges reversed. Then we are going to close her accounts there and take her business elsewhere.
And beside all this, she says every time she goes in they are pushing their credit card on her saying that she's preapproved for a $1000 limit card.
She is a college student with a part time job and they are trying to push her into a situation that could ruin the credit she has!! The business practices of these large corporations are downright thievery!
