Would not apply my payment.

I made my payment to Chase for my mortage on the 16th. Yes, this was one day late. The problem is, Chase refuses to apply ANYTHING to my account until my mortgage payment (with plenty of late fees attached) has been paid. It makes the statement look like I never paid them a dime! They have $1400 of my money! Doesn't that count for something? Thanks, Obama, for letting me bail them out. I'm so happy knowing that I get hit in the wallet for having a mortgage and having bailed them out. Great job, oh *** one!

Spread the word...

Spread the word...Do not bank with Chase or J.P. Morgan Chase whatever they want to call themselves. They don't care about their customers. They only care about how much money they can get out of their customers. It's sad, really... I'm speaking from my experience with them..Do not do business with Chase! That is why Federal Regulations changed on how banks charged their customers with overdraft fees. Chase is number one on charging customers with OD fees even though they know customers don't have enough funds in their accounts. They purposely keep your previous transactions on "Pending" for a longer time than they supposed to so they can charge customers. Now all banks should ask customer's permission first before they can charge OD fees because of their own negligence or greediness.

All banks do this. Wachovia used to hold my pending transactions knowing that my direct deposit was set to hit at midnight.

They would release the held pending transactions an hour or so before the direct depost hit, leaving me with at least one overdraft. All banks are pond ***.

JPMorgan Chase -- evil loan shark vampires

I had a low rate balance transfer to a credit card. Most unfortunately, that company sold its card division to that den of thieves known as JPMorgan Chase. I was a couple weeks late just once -- I was moving, all my records were in boxes, I thought I had paid the bill but didn't. I paid it as soon as I discovered this, but oh no, they jacked up my rate sky high. The minimum payment went from about $200 to $600, almost all of which was just to service the interest. The customer service munchkins either said they couldn't do anything about it, or just acted like I was some kind of a nut. I had to get help from my family, and then work like a slave to get out from under the thumb of those greedy loan sharks. And now that I've paid them their pound of flesh, they've been sending me balance transfer offers. HAHAHAHAHA! I got a house recently. Guess which company didn't get my business? So they screwed me out of a few thousand dollars of interest, but lost the opportunity to get several times that much by servicing my mortgate. May they burn in *** for eternity.

$40 is a late fee. I would have been OK with that.

Several thousand dollars because of a technicality is extortion.

You would see things my way if it had happened to you.

I hope you guys are getting paid for this. If not, then maybe you need a more exciting hobby than trolling on behalf of a mega-corporation that runs to Congress begging for tax money whenever their stock market gambling falls through.

Chase Bank

I have had credit cards with Chase Bank for more than 10 years. Never came near maxing out the cards and never missed a payment nor paid late. Always been a loyal, responsible customer. My credit score is excellent. I have no mortgage or car payment. Only some credit card balances which I manage and try to pay off. In the past year they have hiked up the interest rates and with no warning lowered the available credit which was high on all the cards but never came near the credit limit. They have destroyed my credit score and when I called to complain each time was treated extremely rude. One customer service rep said when you take out a credit card we can do what we want with the interest rates, you at our mercy. Another rep said I was under review and had to much credit available. Well they approved me over 10 years ago and it was fine then. What you need to know is the game they are playing. HIKE UP THE INTEREST RATES, LOWER THE AVAILABLE CREDIT ON THE ONES'S THEY CAN'T BECAUSE OF THE LAWS IN PLACE, FORCING YOU TO USE THE CARDS WITH THE HIGHER INTEREST RATES. CHASE BANK EVERYONE IS ON TO YOU AND I HOPE YOU LOSE ALL YOUR GOOD PAYING CUSTOMERS AND ARE LEFT WITH THE DEAD BEATS WHO DON'T PAY THEIR CARDS AND CAUSE ALL THESE PROBLEMS FOR US GOOD AMERICANS. HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT. I PLAN ON PAYING DOWN MY CARDS AND WHEN I CAN TRANSFER ON TO THE GOOD BANKS THAT ARE STILL AROUND. IN 2 TO 3 YEARS I WILL BE DEBT FREE FROM CHASE BANK AND MY 15 YEARS AS A LOYAL CUSTOMER WILL GO TO ANOTHER BANK. I THINK YOU ARE SHOOTING YOUR FAT CEO'S IN THE BUTT.

Chase reduced limits on my credit cards by 75% which will screw my credit score!

Recently I received notice that Chase had decided to reduce my credit limit on my credit cards by 75%! This action puts me over 50% of my limit! One card went from $17,000 to $2000! I have never missed payments or been delinquent on a payment. In fact, I always pay more than the minimum. Also, I have not been using those cards in an effort to pay them down. Now, with this action, my credit score will be seriously compromised which will ultimately have a very negative effect on my ability to refinance my home before interest rates increase. I have worked very hard to maintain good credi, and when something like this happens it makes me very irrate and frustrated.

*** me with Fees

Dumb *** teller, Mckenzie from the Duarte, Ca branch deposited my mortgagae payment into the wrong account. My father and I had recently opened a joint acct with substantial funds. I have had my on acct with chase for many years. My mortgage is auto witdrawn from that acct every month. I made a $410. deposit to what I thought was my mortgage acct, which by the way obviously needed the funds. The teller didn't ask what acct t should go in and I was unaware that the joint acct would pull up with my accts atam card, since my dad had mentioned that he had just received two new atm cards for the joint acct. Now Chase won't reverse the fees because of their *** policies. If the teller can see both accts, they should ask in which acct the deposit should go. I hate Chase!!!!!Wish we didn't need banks. So now I'm *** WITH FEES!!!!!!!!!

I disagree vith "AL"!!!!! I worked for a different bank for many years and unless "Monirocks67" put that acct # on the slip....the teller should of asked where the money should go!!!!!

If that was our bank that would of definitely been considered the tellers fault...and the fees would of been reversed...but CHASE is the "WORST" when it comes to fee reversals or even trying to understand the situation...or admitting when they're at fault!!! BTW..."AL" u probaly work for them...that's why u wrote a reply like that!!!

Perhaps you should have specified what account you wanted the money to go in to instead of assuming that she could read your mind. Sounds like you screwed up - not her. It still went into one of your accounts.

Chase checking - horrible customer service

Interestingly, the ONE time I was offered to have a fee waived by a Chase representative was today – when I was asking about how to finally close out my account. I have let it run down and changed all my bill pays, but there is one I missed, my Geico car insurance. It went through, I overdrew my account, and was assessed a $35 fee. On the phone, the rep comped me this fee. I had to laugh, since I have never ever been offered that before. Too little, too late. here is an account of the laughable experience I had with trying to deposit checks. In and of itself, not a big deal - but indicative of how they deal with their customers. I am no longer a Chase customer as a result. September 2009 I got married this year and received checks from family in Canada. Relatives wrote their checks from Canadian accounts but the checks are U.S. Dollars. First road bump - the ATM at my local Chase branch won't take them and says to speak with a teller. Fair enough. I first go to the customer service person to make sure there isn't a problem with the check (since the ATM didn't specify why it was rejecting it). He assures me the check is fine and just to go to the window to deposit it. He doesn't mention fees even though he sees (and I specifically point out) that it is a check from another country but in U.S. dollars. The teller starts to process my check. About a third of the way through, she says there may be a fee for processing. I ask how much. Amazingly she isn't able to tell me because she doesn't know the amount of the fee. She has a guess of $45. This is on a $200 check. I offer to sit and wait while she finds out, and then I can decide if I'll deposit it. She says she can't find out how much – she isn't even sure when in the process the fee gets levied. The most I can find out from her is that the fee will be decided and assessed at some point in the future, and it won't be on-site in the branch. I don't want to pay a potentially 25% fee, and so I don't deposit the check in my Chase account. I go to TD Bank, where my husband and I have a saving account, and deposit it, no problem, no questions asked. I also deposit the three other checks I received from Canadian friends and relatives into that same account.

As per December 2010, chase still with bad customer service. I just went in the branch of 55 Water St NYC and for a transaction took 25 min.

A very not proffessional lady in the cashier area along with a unprepared manager that could not handle two simple transactions properly.

I walk out the bank with my money, cancel one of the transactions because I was *** and will deal with TD bank from now.... I haven't had any problem with TD bank...

Reposessed property next door.

We live on Azen Loop in Brooksville Fl. The property next door was reposessed by Chase Bank over a year ago. The grass has not been cut for that length of time. It is becoming an eyesore and also dangerous. The weeds are halfway up the house, there are huge ant hills all over and I am sure snakes in there. The school bus stops across from this property to pick up and drop off children. Doesn't Chase Bank care about taking care of property they own. The address is 27418 Azen Loop Brooksville Fl 34602 Thankyou, Irene Howe

Chase lowered credit card limit

My Chase credit card limit was lowered from $14,000 to $4,200. I have always paid on time, never missed a payment, paid more than the minimum amount, my credit score is over 800 and my credit card balance has steadily declined. One of the reasons listed was that the balance was too high compared to the credit card limit. My balance was at 27% of my credit limit but when they lowered the limit, it became over 90% of the limit. I believe I am being penalized because I am not using the credit card and trying to pay it off. This action will definitely have an affect on my credit score and I have done nothing to deserve this treatment. And oh, by the way...I got this credit card through AARP!

You haven't figured it out yet. Banks lower credit card limits so that your FICO score drops so that they can charge you a hired interest.

The thieving hasn't stopped, they just find new ways.

Refused to case a customers check that was drawn on Chase, unless I paid them $7.

I attempted to cash a customers check at the Chase Bank in Alexandria, Louisiana. The check was written on my customer Chase Checking Account for a job I performen for her. I have cashed checks at several other banks thruout the state of Louisiana and was never charged a fee for cashing a check that was drawn on the bank. I have 2270 cutomers and I am in the process of notfying each that I will not accept a check written on a Chase bank. I am urging every person that I know that a Chase Bank it not a place to do business.

Chase Bank is STEALING your money!

Updated by user Aug 09, 2012

-UPDATE- 8-8-12

Over the years Chase has sold me off to a few companies who have offered pennys on the dollar. I have utterly refused. What they did was unethical, illegal, and *** WRONG !!! not a time will i give...

Today, in the mail, i got a letter. I...

Original review Mar 31, 2010
This past Jan (2010) TPTB passed some bill not allowing banks to charge 35.00 overdraft fees any more, and like most Americans who pay little attention to what ever Washington is doing these days, It went un-noticed by me as well. That being said, the finnancial institutions of the country in unison suddenly started offering this " free over draft protection! NEVER be embarassed at a check out line again! " .. blah blah blah.. You got one in the mail too, You just don't remember it. Any way, what the letters amount to is that they are "giving you" this free service where they will honor any over drafts that hit your account, and you are GIVING THEM permission to charge the fees! unless of course you read the *** thing and OPT out of the program which I did not... So here we are few months later, out of the blue I see my Checking account is like neg 300 bucks ! I immedietly drive to my local branch and have a sit down with the branch mannager. Come to find out, they cleared some 113.00 autopayment that my fault, I had forgotten about, and were hitting me with not one, but THREE 35.00 OD fees for *** little 5 bucks here, 8 bucks there, what ever, always in threes because they want to make SURE you pay the max of 3 per day.. Now I understand why they are on everyones *** to use "credit" everywhere and get thier infamous reward points, so they can do this to ppl. So any way, here I am, I explain to the lady that I pay child support, I make very little money, "as you can see" I told her, think they did anything at all for me? nope... nodda... I called the 1-800 number lodged a formal complaint on the branch and the mannager, I am on every one of these boards I can find, and I changed my Direct Deposit to a prepaid Green Dot card, Chase will NOT be getting the balance I owe on my card. Send it to collections see if I care...

WARNING TO ALL! espescually if you have Chase. But all banks are doing this. call them and OPT OUT of this rediculous overdraft thing, all it simply is thier way around the bill that was passed preventing them from doing this. (unless they have your permission to charge the fees, by being in the program)

Chase is scamming you however they can to make you pay more fees. If you are like most people with busy lives, you don't have time to read every little thing mailed to you.

Chase is writing stuff in small print making you do something unless you pay a fee.

Do you think that is right? Maybe you think it is not the bank's fault that the person did not call in to opt out, but why should the person have to in the first place?

Chase Bank is stealing your money. It may be in some legal way, but they will get you eventually if you bank with them.

ONLY *** PEOPLE BANK WITH CHASE!

Let me see....Chase sent you a letter offering you a program. You signed up for the program without reading the contract.

Then you overdraw your account and they charge you the fees that you agreed to in this contract.

Now you are blaming them. Curious.........

Guest

Where are the lawyers for the consumers. Chase should be obligated to grant 30 days warning before an charge or fee will be imparted. Obama-HELP> Fix this, please.

Guest

They are pushing up the rates on all thier loan account even credit cards, I was able to change out the morgage, but I have a 3.99% fixed rate on a consolidation balance tranfere loan on my chase C.C card with a balance of now of $22000 (started at $32000 two yrs ago), where I paid min. of at least 2% = $440 a mo.

(paying extra when I have it), well they chase decides that since they could not get away with ripping me off on the morgage, they would try to rip me off on the C.C. account. First the increased the min. payment to 5% in mid month after they had sent me the the monthly statement w/$440 min.

payment. I sent them $500 and they gave me a $39 late fee and said the min. was now $1010 and I owed them $1580 min. next mo.

or they would default to 29.99% interest.I paid them $2000 to clear and back payments. I asked them why and the supervisor accually said it was because they were not making big money on me. The supervisor after paying down $2000 also, offered me a 9.99% changeover rate for 2 years w/ a 5% bal. trans.

on the now $20000 = $1000 fee. This was an Chase trying to default the account to 29.99% or 2.5% monthly interest., then when I cought up with my emergence fund, they tried again w/ a higher limited time rate W/ A $1000 FEE TO BOOT!! I told them that they had caught me off balance, but I would stick with the low 3.99 year for the life of the loan, that I would just be paying it of quicker and each payment bring the monthly min. down.

If you have any kind of loan, C.C.,morgage, or business loan , transfer the balance to another bank as so as posible, and if chase really gets you behind the money train eightball, going bankrupt is always a option. Avoid doing business with them if you can!!!

Guest

Encouraging everybody to opt out is irresponsible. For some people opting out is a good thing, and for others opting in is a good thing.

Remember, it's not just about fees.

Opting out will avoid them in some cases, but will also delay the availability of funds on checks you deposit.

I did opt out, but I also never have checks to deposit. For people who don't have direct deposit, opting in could be the best choice so they can use their funds before a check completely clears

I am going back to having my paychecks cashed at Walmart for 3.00 and paying my bills with money-orders or even cash. Screw the banks.

Chase Strikes Again

I came home Sunday from an out of town trip and had an e-mail stating that my account ws overdrawn. There is no way that this is possible because that account had a zero balance and was closed a year earlier. Well, somebody somehow got that card approved and the drained my account of every dime ! Now, want to know the kicker? I had closed the account because this happened last year ! So, is it just me or does it look like someone on the inside of Chase is giving out information and approving charges to a closed account. Not only was the transaction approved..they allowed it to go over by an additional $2087.00 ! Are you kidding me ! Well, needless to say my days with Chase are over. I loved my Bank when it was Washington Mutual but, ever since Chase has taken over...it has become fraud central and the funny thing...they could care a less about you. So, if you are thinking about banking with Chase, be careful and try other options.

I really don't like walking into the bank and hear Mexican music. It seems like they take more time with the Mexicans while you have wait. There is times you will get a teller that cant under stand what you want and need.

Chase - steal $ from customers

I opened an account with Chase in August 2009 after it took over Washington Mutual branches, mainly because its overwhelming ads claiming good services. My personal experiences, however, proofed the contrary.

I have checking, CD, and investment accounts with Chase. The deposits I have made to my checking account were valued between $15K and $45K each, and were for my CD and investment purchases. Chase put long holding periods on these deposits every time.

When I questioned about the holding time for the first couple of times, the Chase reps stated that it was because I was a new customer and it would be shorter after my account tenure reaches 6 month. I accepted that explanation.

On March 5th, I made another deposit of $37K+ to my checking for transferring into my investment account. When I checked my accounts online on March 13th, the fund was still not available for use. I then called Chase customer service. This time, after being transferred from one department to another, I still couldn't get a reasonable explanation from anyone. All I got was that the "back offices" have their rules, and the fund would become available on March 16th – 12 days after the deposit.

When asked why it took so long, one rep said it really depended on how soon the checks could be cleared, making it sound like the check-issuing party could be the cause. I contacted the issuer of the check, OneWest, and was told the check was cleared on March 8th – so Chase was to keep my money all to itself for a whole 8 days, that is stealing!!!

This really shows that Chase doesn't care whether its customers might miss valuable investment opportunities or have any urgent needs - it's all about making money off its clients, how outrageous!!!

I strongly condemn Chase's unethical practices, and sincerely hope that this kind of dirty tricks can be put to a stop – please protect consumers' rights!!

Chase bank does more then delay account deposits. they also wipe you out clean then make you pay overdraft fees and etc. then rack it up so high that you can't pay them back so they ruin your credit and make your life *** by harassing phone calls from collection agencies.

pissedbychase X

I forgot to note in my original post that the deposit was a CASHER'S CHECK. It supposed to be as good as cash, but Chase still managed to held the money all to itself for 8 days while I couldn't do anything with MY OWN $.

For all you readers out there, don't bother using casher's checks, since they apparently make no difference to Chase - same as regular checks...

Guest

Got a letter from Chase stating that my deposit was to be held for 8 days counting from the date that the letter was issued - to ensure fund would be available. The interesting part was, the letter issuing date was the same date that the check was cleared by Chase, which means Chase already had the money at that time...

Guest

They are also holding on to Tax Refunds after the IRS has said they deposited funds into bank account. It's very upsetting. They have excuses for holding a check from an employer, but what's their excuse when it's coming from the government?

Guest

Where I've known them to take a week or so to clear a large amount, I found my credit union took longer. When I asked my credit union why the wait time has actually increased, the reason I was given had to due with the all the fradulent documents being passed.

Time allows for possible recalls by transactions supporting the deposit. (hope this helps)

Guest

but you also have to take into account the fact that employee of the bank had lied to the costumer? Do we really want the people that are caretakers of our money to lie to us, and with hold what is ours?

Guest

well, it's kind of stealing if they use your $ but not allowing you to touch it. Chase having the $ for 8 days before releasing fund to the owner is not right. Maybe all banks do that, but still does not sound right.

Guest

forreal? umm when you're making a deposit of 37k+ im not surprised it would take about 10 business days or so.

it depends on the amount. a check of 100 bucks could be held for a business day for security purposes no matter how long you've been with them.

im not saying tis not annoying that a check doesnt clear after a day or 2 but you cant say that they're stealing money from you. every cent goes into your account whether it takes 10 minutes or 10 business days.
