Hey get this. I wrote Jennifer Myhre from Chase. She wrote all of Wamu's customers informing them of the new fee "service charge" schedule on their "free" checking accounts. Not only does she check her email. She actually responded to my comments by sending me a...

Chase Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio - Chase bk. requiring excess flood insurance

I have $210,000 Fema flood insurance. My replacement value of my home is $200,000+-. I have a $31,000 lien balance with Chase Bank. Chase is requiring that I increase my flood insurance $40,000, up to the $250,000 Fema limit. Why??? The mortgage papers I signed in 2008 state that the "Lender shall not require that the policy be in excess of the replacement cost". " And that at minimum, flood insurance purchased must cover the lowest of: the outstanding principal balance of the loan..." But no, Chase says I must increase my flood insurance another $40,000 on top of my present $210,000, while my total mortgage is only $31K. Just wrong. This makes no sense, it's illogical. I am planning a lawsuit to prevent Chase from ignoring their own mortgage contract.

Chase tells me in 2010 I do not need flood insurance so I cancel it. In february 2011, I get a letter from Chase stating I need flood insurance NOW. I contact AAA insurance, get Hartford flood insurance in place which takes 30 days to become effective. In that 30 days, Chase puts their own flood insurance on - for 1200.00 (as opposed to my 361.00 Hartford insurnace) because they stated there was a lapse in coverage. Well, they sucked 1200.00 out of my escrow and also return Hartfords flood insurance. It's a freaking nightmare.

Now, I have to go to the bank and tell them OF COURSE I WANT HARTFORD'S FLOOD INSURANCE and not theirs.

So, they have sucked over 100.00 out of me for that 1 month of lapse and I wonder if other Chase customers have also been scammed by Chase. Let me know - califradmt@aol.com - we can figure something out if this is an across nation effort to milk more money from their customers.

This is not just Chase that has this requiremnt. There are a number of banks requiring replacement cost for flood insurance even though the amount of the mortgage is way less than the replacement cost of the home.

I'm and insurance agent and find this to be a major rip off. I was told that this is being required by OCC but I have not yet been able to find a bank that will give me something in writing. Banks do not require replacement cost for a homeowner's policy. Why do they need replacement cost for flood ins.

Could it possibly be that FEMA is hurting for money and is looking for a way to bleed the public for more premium dollars on flood insurance? I can't imagine that the goverment would be ripping us off.

Chase Bank is horrible . There is a fee for everything from checking , savings account to transferring funds online .

You have to make 5 credit purchases with your debit card or get charged with a fee of $25. If you don't have a balance of $300 in your savings account you get charged $4. The customer service is horrible.

They can never resolve anything. BEWARE STAY AWAY FROM CHASE BANK They also charge you for direct deposit SMH EX CHASE BANK CUSTOMER

Chase Bank in Everett, Massachusetts - Loan Modification from Chase

I have been trying to get a loan modification through Chase for about two years. My story is just like everyone elses. I've sent in so many documents and still get the same ***. I recently found out that your documents expire every sixty days. So if your modification doesn't go through in this time frame they close your case. Chase requires you to resend in the same updated information again before they re-open it. This process repeats itself every sixty days. So, in other words, its pretty much impossible to get a modification. I hope Chase gets exposed for what they are really putting people through!

Chase Bank may not succeed in ripping you off!

This bank is involved in major criminal activity and have our government buffalowed real good. They lie directly to congress and our president and need to be put out of business for it! If you and I let them get away with these huge rip-offs, all the other banks will follow their lead. Write congress and expose these criminals and report their criminal ways to your attorney general etc. There is also a very helpful website. www.helpwithmybank.gov that should be able to help you. Write them a letter explaining what Chase has done to you. This is a very organized and wealthy bank that will probubly get away with this theivery if we let them. Get mad AND even, I am. Don't give up or give in. They may not prevail!!

Chase Banks

I was a member of WAMU (washington Mutual) before they got sucked up by Chase Bank. Supposedly we were grandfathered in for free checking, no minimum and free checks for life. Now I receive a letter today, everything has changed, l500.00 minimum in the account, or a monthly fee. To *** with being grandfathered in, means nothing. I confronted them with the book they sent me 3 years ago, agreeing to uphold all of these terms. All they could say is we decided to change, and you are no longer under these terms. I asked how they could change what supposedly grandfathered in, and it had no answer, but we decided to change everything. Evidently they have more money than sense. I guess all of us grandfathered in will be looking for another bank, I know I am.

Monica,

Ditto. I received the same letter and am in shock!

Here's my letter to the VP:

Dear Ms. Myhre,

I think there may be some mistake in the letter you recently sent me.

The letter and manual rescind the famous Free Checking established under Washington Mutual, which Chase Manhattan had promised to continue to provide to customers as a condition of its taking over the failing bank's clientele.

Conditions now stipulate the need for large direct deposits or $1500 balances, etc. in order to not be charged a $10 monthly service fee.

Obviously, I must have received this in error, because Chase is surely aware of its terms honoring WaMu customers and the fact that we are in a financial crisis where income--such as mine--is decreasing and bank fees--such as this--are becoming intolerable to bear.

Please tell me where the error lies, or God forbid, if this information is intentional, how you think smaller customers can even continue to afford to bank with Chase?

Thank you,

Josef S. Klus, CPCC

Let's she if cancels my account before I do!

Thinking we need a grass roots campaign, today I tweeted:

VP Jennifer Myhre, Chase Manhattan takes away promised Free Checking of former WaMu customers. jennifer.myhre@chase.co 1800-242-7399 ex51956

There has to be a way to fight this. I am grandfathered also and have been looking up legal definitions for the term, and I have seen that they are not allowed to do this. There has to be an attorney or something to deal with this.

I have been trying to modify my loan for four years. I was told today that I've been denied modification because my loan# was on certain pages that were not allowed to have extranious writing. I was told last year that all doc's were to have my loan# on them so they wouldn't get lost as they have "lost" many pages to my modification in the past.

Chase Bank in Chicago, Illinois - "Ultimate Rewards" Scheme Used to Pilfer Money from Customers

Chase Bank foisted the "Ultimate Reward" gimmic on me without any agreement from me. I tried, but I found no terms, such as fees, rules for determining the trivial number of points I would earn by using my debit card without using my PIN, or any other rules. I could not understand why they would encourage us to spend money and pay us anything (which is trivial anyway) to do it. Suddenly, on Thanksgiving, I learned that they had just charged a $25 "Annual Fee" to my account for Ultimate Rewards. I tried to get them to return my money, but so far I am having no luck at all with them. Apparently, Chase Bank can and will strong arm money from their customers without warning. I figure their investments are probably not good, so they have to get their money somehow. I'll just take my business elsewhere.

Chase Bank in Orlando, Florida - I also Hate Chase Credit Card

I carry 2 Chase Cards, a Visa $25K I use regularly for Internet and Emergency purposes and a MasterCard $15K that I keep open just for credit rating enhancement. The MC only had their "Fraud Alert" charges hitting it as I don't charge anything on it otherwise. Both have been kept scrupulously paid up on time. An out of state trip recently kept me from noticing the MC fraud charge was overdue and I paid it immediately upon returning. Chase just penalized me for failing to pay on time THEIR charge of less than $8.00 on time. My credit rating has been excellent +++++. I use my PC regularly to check on all my checking and credit accounts. Chase enticed me to use their "Fraud Alert" service after a very suspicious attempt they alerted me to involving my Visa card which very well could have only been THEM using a phony story in order to sell me on letting them add the Fraud Alert to my cards. I immediately had them drop that service as I will NOT keep rewarding Chase for skimming $8 roughly off monthly from my MC when they are going to turn around and run my interest rate up so high I'd be a fool to actually charge any major purchase on it. The interest on the MC is over 2X that of my Visa from the same company. That makes no sense whatsoever except that they want me to drop that MC. I won't do it to spite them now. We charge a small service charge to your card, hoping one time you miss paying the 'peanuts' charge one month so we can run up your interest and damage your credit in the process ? *** Bags !!!!!!

That's actually not entirely true. I have a Chase card and I was 2 days late paying my bill and they reported me to the credit bureaus.

Of course when I spoke to CS there was nothing they could do about it.

And yes I am one of those responsible card holders who are rarely late on payments, such as the Chase account. I also HATE Chase bank!

Anonymous
#275351

Actually, you must be 30-days past due before anything gets reported to the credit score company, so if you have missed your payment by Chase's deadline by a week or so, yes you have to pay the late payment/charges, BUT nothing was reported to the credit score company to damage your credit score.

Like I said, they only post when you are 30days, 60 days, 90 days..

Hope this helps ease the pain :)

I've been a long time Chase TravelPlus Visa card holder (~20+ yrs.) I accepted the offer for "Fraud Alert" a couple of yrs. ago, but when the pkg. arrived & I realized how much personal data on my other credit cards, etc. I'd be providing to them, it made me uncomfortable. My concerns of potential data breaches on their end could leave me in an even less secure state than without it. So I cancelled/opted out of Fraud Alert & never returned any of my sensitive data.

I'm real glad I did because I've already got enough issues with them over their denial to credit fraudulent charges to my account. I intend to file my complaints with the FTC shortly & would like to find a class action suit against Chase to join concerning their failure to address my issues fairly. I've begun to wonder if they are treating customers with complaints unfairly since they instituted "arbitration clauses" into their Cardmember Agreements. Not to mention that the 2 businesses I have my fraudulent charge complaints on are some of the largest international merchants that Chase processes payments for! Might I suggest, there is a serious conflict of interest potential going on here folks!!!

By the way, was your Fraud Alert program administered by Chase Visa servicing or through a 3rd party vendor? You know there's always the chance they'll spin off services (like they did with our TravelPlus program admin. to 2 different 3rd party subs. in the last 10+ yrs.) and then Chase Visa says they no longer have any responsibility for problems/complaints you may have with those 3rd party outsourcers. It's really scummy, but quite the norm now days I believe

Chase bank stole all of my money

Chase withdrew $446 from my checking account a couple of months after I opened an account with them. The transaction said it was a withdrawal to another account. I called them and they were outright rude, verbally abusive, gave me the run around, refused to transfer me to a supervisor, and stated that I would not get my money back. They withdrew the money to supposedly satisfy a negative balance from a closed Washington Mutual account from 2007. I was unemployed and have a family with two young children, now with only $21 in the bank. Do not fall for Chase and their incentives to open accounts with them, this company is greedy, unsympathetic, and downright unprofessional. I will be closing my account with them as soon as possible.

The reason they took your money was because Washington Mutual is now Chase and they still have all your records. The withdraw was justified
