Bad customer service and ridiculous policies

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have had problems with Chase all year. They unexpectedly turned my card off twice already this year and have given me no warning or explanation outside of "we believe there MAY be fraudulent activity." They declined repeatedly to tell me what kind of activity. I had knee surgery a few weeks ago but have had to return to work. The commute via train requires alot of walking so I have been taking a cab too and from my office. I went to the ATM this morning to take money out of my account and the ATM refused to give me any cash. I went to a second ATM and it did the same thing. By this point my cab had been waiting for 5 minutes and I was running late. I called Chase immediately to speak to someone and she claimed that my card had been switched off because it was reported missing! My card was snuggly in my hand and had remained in my wallet, locked in my apartment all night. Additionally, why would they not call/text/email/message to tell me that my card had been reported missing before switching it off and not telling me! Ridiculous!!! I was forced to take the subway to work and have now re-injured my knee again. Seriously considering switching banks!

Horrible Customer Service and Overdraft Fee

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Horrible customer service, on 9/9/2014 around 9:35AM Cetral Time. I I asked to speak to management and he would not let me speak, would raise his voice at me and talk in a condescending way. They charge you the highest transactions overnight before 11 PM, followed by smaller so when you wake up in a morning you owe them 3 overdraft fee for $34 dollars each without a window to make it right. Management suggested that I check my account every night better yet go search for an ATM before 11 PM to put money in the account. Bad business, scamming people out of money. It's sad that such a large organization allowing this to happen to people.......

INCORRECT INFORMATION

I applied for a Chase Slate Card to have a balance transfer froml another credit card. The bank associate assured me that it would take 45 days to process and that my first payment would be in Dec or Jan 2014. Not so I received my first new statement, which has a due date of 11/23/2014. I am very very angry as, I purposely left a balance on the other card and sent the payment for that Nov 2, 2014. I was hoping that I would have a full "0" interest for 15 months. By Nov being my due date for payment only gives me 13 months of"0" percent. I called and spoke with a Supervisor who told be nothing could be done. I am a loyal customer and cannot believe I am being held accountable for wrong information given to me by the Chase representative. Sheila Chappory

Loan modification with chase

I was unemployed, ask chase for relief with my mortgage. After a lot of paperwork, received a letter stating (we will forgive your next 6 months No MORTGAGE OR INTREST payment due). After the six month chase demanded full payment for those month plus additional back INTREST! Almost $8,000! I called chase told them I did not have that money. I ask them about that word FORGIVE in there letter. They told me it means deferred. Now they are foreclosing. What a bunch of crook, thieves. It is mortgage fraud. The federal government needs to investigate the again and fine these robbers or put somebody in jail. You know if these was a regular Pearson that's were we would be. Money talks. As a veteran that service proudly with the U.S. ARMY I am appalled that nobody wants to drop the hammer down on all these CROOKS.

Chase is the worst

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Chase Bank caused a situation for my elderly Mother's account and closed her account with NO communication as they suspected someone was doing some Fraud to her. Then sent a large sum cashiers check to her in the regular mail with out notifying her. Then when we tried to re- establish a new account with thei own check, and after 3 hours at the bank, they determined that they would not open an account with their own check so healthcare could be paid for... Insane! They just lost a whole lot of funds from her! And me and my family will be taking all our business from them and going to Wells Fargo who actually cares what they do to people!

Chase QuickPay far from being quick

My employer sent me money via QuickPay. It is a pain in the butt. First I need to create an account. Then Chase asks me to validate that my bank account is correct. To do so, Chase issues 2 small payments to my bank account (and cancels them immediately after) and I have to enter the 2 amouts received in a form. That way, my bank account is validated. The 1st problem is that it takes 2 to 3 days for Chase to issue these 2 smalls payments. The 2nd problem is that, once the account is finally validated, it takes 3 to 4 days for the cash payment from my employer to be credited to my account. Is this a joke or what?

I felt like a criminal

I don't bank at Chase, but my niece does. She lives in another state and let me know she needed some cash. I had deposited money for her before. I went into the branch in Woodburn, Or, made out a deposit slip and walked up to the teller. He asked me for my debit card. I told him I wasn't a signer on the account. He said I couldn't deposit cash because they had changed their policy last April. I couldn't deposit cash because they are trying to stop money laundering. I said for $130.00? He said they can't accept cash for deposit from anyone who doesn't have an account with them. I would like to caution anyone who sets up an account for a fundraiser. People that would like to donate cash, won't be able to deposit it if they don't have an account there. Notice to Chase: NOT EVERYONE IS A CRIMINAL!

I ran into the same problem, but turns out there are a lot of options for you. You could write a check to your niece, anything under 200 is available immediately. Or deposit a money order or set up chase quickpay, free service.

It's ture not everyone is a criminal, but it all has to start somewhere.

Chase Bank - Credit Card Review from Colorado Springs, Colorado

I was recently a victim of credit card fraud on my chase account. I was quite happy to find out that they had an insurance plan in place to protect people of this type of crime. They replaced the money that was taken from my account without any problem. Two months later I was notified by email that my account was overdrawn.I was quite surprised because the accountant not been active for 2 weeks or so. It turns out that they had taken back the money the accredited me on the fraud because it exceeded the time allowed by their insurance company. this is really put me in a bind. why did they give me money back in the first place, just to have it taken away,

I was told "Chase NEVER admits mistakes" by local branch manager. Houston TX

I made payment arrangements last summer to pay my HELOC while on vacation. I spoke with a wonderful and pleasant representative on the phone, made a future phone payment and thought all was well. To my surprise, the representative did not complete the transaction. I did not know they did not do what they advised, until their collections department called me. After that ordeal, I ended up setting up auto payments on-line. Two separate times, the auto-pay failed without my knowledge. We are not talking "lack of funds," but a system that had errors and "magically" cancelled out the auto-pay. I spoke with Chase and they reassured me that nothing would be reported late because of the issue. They have some phone representatives that are great at convincing their clients that they are taking care of them. Each time I have been told they were taking care of a payment issue, they LIED. I guess most people never find out they lied. I only found out because we paid off our mortgage and HELOC and we wanted to buy a new house and had our credit reports run. Unfortunately, it gets worse. My realtor asked me to go with her to a local branch to get someone in person to help me. I gave the branch manager the details of what happened. The branch manager told me "Chase NEVER admits mistakes." She also told me "it is your word against ours." I was floored. After leaving the branch, in shock of her lack of customer service, I once again, did what my realtor advised me to do. I called CHASE until I could get someone to help me. I only needed them to send me letters stating what happened to cause late payments on my credit report. I did receive several. They weren't exactly what happened, but they were what I needed, so I accepted the help. It was nice that someone was willing to actually help me. Later, when I called Chase to find out who I could send a thank you to, they said they showed no such letters sent. Ok, what is wrong with this company? I was mocked and yelled at by a phone rep, treated with kindness and respect by another, sent letters apologizing for their errors, yet "I spoke to nobody!" They win the award for craziness. Needless to say, I haven't sent any thank you letters. I am still waiting for them to fix the problem. I have not heard anything from them. I just thank GOD that my loan is paid off and I don't have to deal with them ever again. I am just disappointed that they would say one thing and do another. Then, they did one thing and said another. I will just have to wait until this mess comes off of my credit report next year. It is sad that they can have so much power over our lives.

Modification nightmare that never ends

We suffered a big income loss several years ago when my employer retired and was replaced by someone who had no tolerance for my need to advocate and care for my autistic son. I was forced basically to leave my FT job to care for my son who receives ZERO government support (I guess because we are legal citizens...) we called Chase to modify our mortgage since our son's disability and lack of supports was a hardship. They were great, all on board etc. After months of LOSING our papers they gave us a trial which lowered our payments by $150. Not much, but we took the trial. We paid it for 9 months while being told over and over the final was coming, Finally I start getting harassed by collectors...confused, I decided to hire an attorney who told us that Chase had been reporting us delinquent for 9 months and had our money in a suspense fund. No payments made. Our credit is destroyed. No fixing almost an entire year of missed mortgage payments. Anyway. Attorney takes $4000 from us to negotiate. They get us a HAMP after months of torture from Chase. The HAMP is 2% but our payments leave us with $100 left of our netpay. Confused we call Chase ourselves and complain to attorney not understanding the numbers. Both tell us they will do nothing else and take it or sell the house. Not able to get another house since they screwed our credit up, we took it and I complained that we live in a city where our escrow is going to go up and then we will have payments MORE than our income due. YES, I was correct. Now back in *** ***, I call the underwriter who did our HAMP. She was fired by our attorney because she discovered he had a deal with the bank to push Mods through so he could get his money and the bank person get their credit due. Ours of course was one. So the lawyer AND Chase screwed us. Trying again to modify since we found out why the payments are so high. They took our last refi and figured the payments on $300,000 into 10 years. So even with a 2% interest, the payments are way too high. If they had taken 5 minutes and pushed it to 20 or 30 years (we are young enough) our payments would be very manageable even with the higher escrow. Mind you, I appealed to BOTH CHASE AND MY ATTORNEY TO DO THIS BEFORE SIGNED AGREEMENT AND BOTH TOLD ME THIS WAS IT. I find out that is a huge lie. Anyhow back to dealing with them and them losing all our paper over and over. In the midst of this they sell our loan. Not sure what that will do but it could make us lose our home or make it easier. I hate hate hate Chase and I am hoping for the latter.

Were you under the impression that a loan modification was not going to damage your credit? The reason the bank wouldn't extend your loan and lower your payments it the simple fact that you are probably so underwater on your mortgage as it is that extending the terms wouldn't have made a bit of difference.

If you feel you have evidence that your lawyer was not really working for you but for the bank ( doubt it, but stranger things have happened) then write a letter and complain to the State Bar. Trust me, they will investigate. While you are at it have the Bar recommend a bankruptcy attorney. If your credit is as messed up as I assume it now is the BK will do no worse and you will gain some debt relief.

In some cases a BK will stay any foreclosure proceedings and you can live in your home (without paying the bank a dime) until your BK is discharged.

Moral of the story is this: Banks make zero money on loan mods so it is in their best interest to limit the damage to their bottom line if they agree to do one; Don't expect your credit to be unaffected if you fail to make the payments agreed upon on the day you closed your loan, and call the Bar, report the lawyer, go to a bankruptcy and learn of your options. Good luck.

Chase branch won't take coins.

My 8-year old (and I) brought in a ziplock bag of change to the Chase branch in Oswego, IL to exchange for cash. We were told that the coin machine is 'down' and has been so for weeks with no fix in sight for more weeks. They have no way to store the coins. They don't have paper rolls. They would have to count all the change again at the end of the night to balance. If we want, they will send the change to Chicago and we will receive a credit on our account in 2-4 weeks. Seriously?!? They would NOT take the coins and give my child his cash. Are they or are they not A BANK??? It should not be the customer's problem how they must adjust their day in order to provide the service that we pay for by having our accounts with them. Please, someone, explain how this is 'Customer Service.'

Chase Bank - Loan Review from Marina Del Rey, California

chase auto finance will not work with you if you are having any financial hardship my husband lost his job over a year ago and had made our payments up until these last 2 months. We asked them to reconfigure our loan.To change the terms to make it affordable. They told us we needed to borrow money from family but that they couldn't help. I wish my tax dollars had not gone to them for a bailout. We saved their industry but they refuse to reconfigure a car loan! Woe to those who cannot show compassion after being shown compassion.

Chase Bank - Rude Customer Service Review from Harahan, Louisiana

Hello my college daughter is trying to open up her a chase acct for her college financial institution & the customer service teller she had was SO UNCONCERN WITH ANY & ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS . He was very very rude & non helpful , he didn't have any answers for her questions , he didn't give any input about chases first time acct holders such as checking & savings which each one offers & which one would be best to open up for a college student & when I address his nasty attitude that he is having with us he said "well y'all asking questions that y'all already no the answers to so I don't need to say nothing . We are very disappointed in the poor service that this chase bank employee gave to us . Therefore I'm taking my child & my money to a bank that values & that is just a lil more concerned about there customers instead of being so angry to be working in the cashier customer services business . James Phillips NMLS ID# 771386 The bank is 7129 Jefferson hwy Harahan la 70123 another bank would be very happy to get our services . Thank u for NOTHING CHASE BANK

Chase closed my account with no reason

I woke up one day and my debit card was not working (little embarrassing after trying to put gas). When I called the bank I was told that they were closing my account because it was a risk to them.

I was told that I had 10 days to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, I still have a business to run and suppliers that needed to be paid. A week later, my account was "restricted" i cannot make deposits or withdrawals and the checks that still need payment won't be paid. In the other hand, they are still taking the direct deposits from my credit card merchant and they are definitely keeping my money.

They first told me I could go to the bank branch and withdrawal my money. When I got there they refused to give it to me. Now they are saying that I have to wait 10 days for them to mail me a check. In the meantime I still have to pay my suppliers and I still need to run my business with a huge deficit.

My business is small and I do not know if I can keep it afloat for weeks to come.

DO NOT BANK WITH CHASE! Unless this can happen to you!!

Chase did the same thing to me. It’s been two weeks and I still haven’t recieved my money. How long did it take you to get your money from them

Kathrina Xwr

Did you ever get your check

Guest

Chase closed my accounts with no warning and refuses to give me a reason why. I have never been negative in my account and have never had any issues.

I went to this branch to get my funds and they refused to release any of my funds and said I have to wait 10 business days to receive a check in the mail. I was on the phone all day with Chase representatives and back and forth at this branch. I explained to the manager how I had bills due to the next day and will be charged a late fee now and how am I suppose to feed my family with no money. He seemed to not care and was no help whatsoever.

All he would say is "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do". I don't understand how a bank can do this and hold MY money from me!

Especially during a pandemic and when I have been laid off from my job due to COVID-19. This review is to warn others because apparently Chase has been doing this to a lot of people.
