Chase Bank in Glendale, California - Chase is the worst bank!

In a time of bad home loans, foreclosures, unemployment and everything else that could be going wrong in today's economy, this seem like small potatoes. However small, it still got my blood boiling. Before I get to my actual complaint where I would like to slap a big old sticky note on someone's forehead or maybe just roll them up in the sticky note like a giant burrito and roll them down the street at the local bank (not sure if I can mention their name), I have to tell you a previous story that somehow relates in a roundabout way in the sense that these bankers are fools. Yes, I realize all bankers are not fools, but the ones I was dealing with are. Now this is not the first time I have heard of this bank doing absurd things. One couple told me their home had been in foreclosure for 2 years. They were still living in their house and not making payments - just banking their money. That is one extreme. But, this is the other extreme. It made me so mad; I wanted to storm in the bank and demand an explanation. Anyway, on with the story. I was speaking to a man in his 40's who had moved to the United States in his late teens and kept telling me how he was so proud to be living the "American Dream." He bought his first home at 21 for over $450,000. For 16 years he made his payments on time, never skipping a beat. Sixteen years come and go and he sees that interest rates have come way down. He calls his bank and asks to refinance. They tell him that he does not qualify until he defaults on his loan. Following the bank's advice, he doesn't make a payment for 2 months, calls the bank again requesting to refinance his loan. Now the bank tells him once again he can't refinance. In a panic, he requests the amount he needs to bring his home current. At this point he is told it is too late; his home is up for auction. Despite him contacting other banking institutions and being told that the bank can't do that (I couldn't tell you if they can or not - I am no expert), there was nothing they could do. At least he was smart enough and had the finances to immediately buy another home before his credit was ruined. Now his once half a million dollar home is only worth $60,000. Funny thing is after 16 years, the bank had probably already gotten their money out of him. Every day I drive by him empty vandalized home that isn't making the bank any money. As usual I am a bit off topic. On with my complaint. I take care of an elderly family member's banking. I noticed she was negative money on her checking account that she hasn't used in over 10 years. Apparently the bank is charging a service fee that she was unaware of. Trying to make things easy and not having to explain the situation to her (If you have ever tried to explain something to someone very stuck in their ways, you know how frustrating it can be), I thought I could do the right thing and take care of the matter for her. I called the bank and requested to close her checking account since her direct deposit goes into savings. You have to understand she is very old school...no checks...no ATM. She takes the cash out each month and pays the bills in person - it is an all day affair. Anyway, the bank says that for security purposes they will call back to confirm the request. I never hear anything. Starting to get concerned, I call the bank. It turns out that they mistakenly closed her savings account and not the checking. As you know, you can't just call and get a live person. You have to sit for 45 minutes fighting with the automated baker and then sit on hold. It seemed like an easy fix; just open the account back up. How naive I am. After arguing with the person on the phone and then the supervisor, they tell me I can go into a branch and have it resolved. Easier said than done. After fighting rush hour traffic and standing in line at the bank, they tell me it can't be done. Trying to maintain my composure, I go home to call the bank again. By now they are closed. Of course the next day I can't get the same person on the phone. After rehashing my story again to another phone teller and then talking to their manager, I am told I can't re-open the account because I requested that it be close! Hello, was no one listening!?! I never requested it to be closed. That is the whole issue. Round and round we go. There is nothing I can do. Now I have to explain to an 80 year old why not only has her savings account been closed, but why her Social Security check won't be deposited. I don't get it. It was their mistake, why can't they fix it? I would hate to have a large account with them, a retirement savings, or maybe a mortgage and have them tell me my money disappeared or my home was being auctioned and there was nothing they could do. We are at the mercy of these people and they have the final say no matter how wrong it is. Isn't there something wrong with that? So much for the "American Dream". http://postitatthecomplaintbox.blogspot.com/2012/01/banking-buffoons.html

I am sick of hearing the stories of my co-workers who, after not making any payments on their Chase credit cards for a few months, get offered deals to pay the accounts off at 1/3 to 1/2 the amount owed. When I called them to ask if they could reduce my interest rate on the accounts I have, always paid on time, they said "no." I pointed out that I knew several people who were being let off the hook if they don't make payments at all and I was basically told "too bad." I then told her that apparently she needs me to make my payments and pay high interest rates so that they can make the money up on all of these people who get the special payoff deals and she actually told me "yes" that was a fact!!!!

I hate Chase! I'm pretty sure they will be the bank of the antichrist someday.

I wish it were illegal, but apparently everything a bank does is legal in the States. My experience is equally bad - not only with the Chase Bank - and nothing can be done. Unless, of course, your name is Donald Trump, Stephen Jobs or Bill Gates.

Chase Bank in Mchenry, Illinois - Chase mortgage raised my escrow with no warning!

Received my mortgage bill and it's up $128.44 from last month, from the amount we've paid for years. No explanation, but up'd the escrow. Why? After my husband passed away I tried to re-fi, they turned me down because I wasn't paying the mortgage from the same account for a year yet, and that the loan no longer has my husband's name on it - duh, he passed away! They advised I either wait a year and try to re-fi again, or sell my house! and now this! Thank you so much for the help!

Chase Bank in Atlanta, Georgia - CHASE IS HORRIBLE

I have wasted about 5 hours on the phone, simply trying to get a breakdown of my rewards points. WHY I cannot access them online is BEYOND strange, as they are my own spent points. Also, I am asked four or five times a quarter to "activate" my 5% rewards points. WHY!? Do you know someone who would not want the extra 4%? That is what I was told though: some people do not want the extra rewards, this is why they ask to activate...sure, Chase. I am new to these review sites, but I am so furious at the level of rudeness and shadiness of CHASE, I had to warn others. PLEASE PICK A DIFFERENT CARD!

In September of 2009, I had gone to my local Chase Bank and deposited $17,000.00. A bank investment officer approached me and I told him I was interested in a savings account where I could make more than a regular passbook savings account. He told me that he could...

Chase Bank is horrible and unethical

I'm overpaying on my mortgage loan and instead of applying my extra payments to principle, they are applying it to "future interest". I'm pretty sure that is not legal, and when I asked them to fix it, they reversed all my payments for 6 months without re-applying them right away, which caused their loan default department to start sending messengers to my house for foreclosure inspection. Then they charged my account $60 for the foreclosure inspection. Then any service I'm trying to set up to fix the issue they say I can't be a part of because I'm behind on my payments. Very unethical, completely frusterating, and I feel sorry for anyone wanting to pay more principle on their account because apparently Chase does not know how to do this correctly.

I've gone in to a Chase branch and make a principal reduction payment on my mortgage. I filled out the payment form correctly (entering the payment amount in the principal reduction section) but the tellers apply the payment as a regular payment.

I've had this happen 3 consecutive times at two different branches.

I always check the receipt and when I indicate to the teller that they incorrectly applied the payment they say it was a mistake and apologize. Beware and please check the payment type to keep Chase honest...too bad they don't seem to run an honest business.

The same is happening to me where my extra payments are being applied to "future interest" instead of principal - they are beyond unethical and they told me they would only go back 3 months! File reports to OCC and CFPB.

Chase is ripping off ALL CONSUMERS, THE BRANCH MANAGER HAS ADMITTED THIS MANY CONSUMERS HAVE COMPLAINED. It is the way the teller processes the payments - the lazy way is to apply as "Regular Payment" as opposed to two separate transactions - one to regular payment and the other to principal. BE AWARE THIS IS HAPPENING TO YOU!!!

CHASE WILL DO WHATEVER THEY CAN TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. FILE COMPLAINTS LIKE CRAZY, I AM.

I am a chase customer also and am having the same issue.Only i check by phone balnace readings and so woth but when depsiting money through the ATM I lost a few dollars more than i depostied as if a transfer and withdrawl was being made at the same time as i was depositing to my checking account.another time while i was checking my balance by phone I was told of a a 20 balance, which was correct by my records and caculations, then 2 minutes later checked it again and so that could check savings too and was given a negative balance.Someone was and still is really extorting funds 10-20 at a time out of my account and the bvank it self has excuses to try to make me look ignorant as the customer everytime. I figure it is a matter of time before I catch my corperate, maybe even land me a seat working in the bank.

Chase Bank in Indianapolis, Indiana - CHASE FINANCIAL SERVICE sand-bagged my short sell offer-really? really!!

Chase failed to approve or disapprove a Short Sale Offer I had, I LOST MY BUYER. Chase had 60 days to approve this...that is all they had to do is approve it....the sale did not have to close in 60 days. I was assigned Chase Reps, but I NEVER TALKED TO ANY OF THEM. I called and left voice mails....they never called me back. I also asked for supervisors names and numbers--left voicemails with supervisors, and was never called back. I receive the names of these reps in letter form. The letter said to call them for anything!!! Well they never talked to me...I called at least 20 times in 60 days. The letter Chase sent me also said that a written decision would be rendered in 45 calendar days, and if a decision could not be made in that period a written status letter would be sent every 15 days until a decision is rendered. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY LETTERS!! When I called Chase, 1/2 the time, I would be disconnect. I was always polite when I phoned Chase. SO...I LOST MY BUYER...60 DAYS IS UP...THE BUYER IS WALKING....
